ARTESIAN IDENTIFIES NICHE ASSET CLASSES AND RELATIVE VALUE OPPORTUNITIES.
Artesian has been managing fixed income funds since 2004 focusing on corporate bonds, relative value trading and credit arbitrage.
Artesian is an active seed and early stage VC operating in Australia and China since 2008. Our focus is on scalable high growth potential startups that can build and exit their business on relatively low lifetime capital.
We employ a co-investment strategy partnering with accelerators, incubators, angel groups and universities and are on target to reach a total of 500 – 1000 startup investments by 2018.
Artesian was founded in 2004 when it was spun out of ANZ Banking Group as a credit arbitrage hedge fund. The original founders remain with the company and with new managing partners have a combined 150 years of financial markets experience.
Artesian’s founding partners, purchased ANZ’s stake in 2005. The company has subsequently been fully owned by partners and staff.
Since 2004, Artesian has managed specialised funds focused on credit arbitrage and relative-value strategies across global financial markets.
In 2009, while continuing to manage credit relative value investment strategies from its New York, London and Singapore offices, Artesian began to make principal investments in seed/early-stage ventures from its offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Shanghai.
Artesian’s venture capital investment management strategy is to create co-investment funds with specialist partners such as accelerators, incubators, angel groups and universities.
Since 2011, Artesian has launched the 5 early stage venture capital limited partnerships (ESVCLP’s) and one Australian Fund of Funds (AFOF).
These include the Sydney Angels Sidecar Fund, the BlueChilli Venture Fund, the Slingshot Venture Fund, the iAccelerate Seed Fund, the ilab Venture Fund and the Artesian Australian Venture Capital Fund.
In 2014, Artesian launched VentureCrowd, Australia’s leading equity, property and credit crowdfunding platform.
